About us

Kenneth Easby & Co became Kenneth Easby LLP on the 1st October 2007.

Kenneth Easby & Co was founded in 1949, based in Bedale, North Yorkshire. In 1994 the practice opened a second office in Northallerton. At that time the firm consisted of three partners - Robert Dunning, Colin Syers and Mike Mayman.

Robert Dunning is based at the Bedale office. A former mayor (of Bedale), magistrate and Major in the Territorial Army. Robert specialises in agricultural matters acting as informal advisor to the National Tenant Farmers Association.

Colin Syers trained with Deloitte's before joining the firm in 1993. Colin's client portfolio ranges from local family businesses to large companies and he deals with all associated audit, accounting and taxation matters.

A former captain of Bedale Golf Club Mike Mayman now works in the Northallerton Office. As well as looking after his own client portfolio he acts as a specialist audit partner for the practice and, with his dedicated audit team, provides support and control on all audit matters for the firm.

Colin Hutson joined the practice in November 1997 to assist with the expansion of the Northallerton office, bringing with him over fifteen years experience in the profession, having worked for Price Waterhouse and Haines Watts amongst others. Colin moved to the Bedale Office in May 2003.

In November 2000 Ken Graham dissolved his existing tax advisory partnership to join Kenneth Easby & Co as Partner to provide specialist tax services within the practice. Prior to setting up his own practice Ken had for many years worked for Price Waterhouse advising on a range of tax and business matters including acquisitions and disposals and succession planning issues.

In November 2001 C J Smithson & Co merged with Kenneth Easby & Co to provide a third office for the firm located in Darlington and Colin Syers joined partner Chris Smithson at the Darlington office to assist with its development.

Kevin Bradley was appointed Member of Kenneth Easby LLP as on 1st October 2007 having worked for the company at a management level and specialising in audit matters for a number of years.

Samantha Rainbow became a member of the Limited Liability Partnership on 1 December 2007. A graduate of Durham University she trained with Coopers and Lybrand as a prize winning student before joining the Phillips Electronics group. Having worked as both financial and management accountant for a group company Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on a range of matters to assist with the development of the practice.

The firm currently has seven members and employs 38 staff. Expansion in recent years has been both swift and significant, reflecting the strength of the business and the wide spectrum of services which we are now able to offer to clients both large and small.

The firm's approach throughout has been to work on a proactive basis typically advising clients ranging from individual taxpayers to large turnover businesses and where relevant liasing with bankers, financial and legal advisors to improve the overall financial position. The firm is able to advise on the whole range of accounting, auditing and taxation matters faced by owner managed businesses due to the experience and knowledge within the firm.
